About the Artist

from Markham Economist & Sun

Working mostly from sketches made on location, Barbara creates her acrylics and watercolours in her studio.  Playing

with light, shadow and movement, she enjoys painting the people and places that have captured her interest at home

in Canada and while traveling around North and South America, Europe and Oceania.  Viewers have often

described her paintings as "singing with light and colour".

Watercolour has been her medium of choice with all its happy accidents, but she now enjoys experimenting with the

many layers, textures and surprises of acrylics with pours and mixed media.

Barbara has exhibited in solo and juried group shows for some years, winning many awards for her work. Her

paintings are in private and public collections in Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and New Zealand.  She is currently

represented by the King Street Gallery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
